Hackney Wedding Photographer Serving London & The Wider UK
Wedding Photography FAQs
As a Hackney-based wedding photographer, I want to make booking my services as easy as possible. Below are answers to the most common questions about my wedding photography, so if you are planning a micro wedding, half-day celebration, or full-day wedding, this guide should help you understand how I work and what to expect.

Yes. With the right approach, even a shorter ceremony allows for meaningful, natural images. The focus shifts from quantity to quality and connection.
Not always. Many strong images can be created inside the building and just outside on the steps, depending on your preference.
Most couples feel this way at first. A calm, unobtrusive approach helps everything feel more natural, without pressure to perform.
No. I’m based in Hackney, but I photograph weddings across London and throughout the UK. Whether you're planning a town hall ceremony, a city wedding, or something further afield, I’m happy to travel and discuss what works best for your day.
Yes. I regularly photograph weddings across London and understand how different venues typically run, especially town halls and city venues where timings can be tight. This helps everything feel calm and well-paced on the day, without unnecessary pressure.
Yes. If you’re still deciding, I can suggest venues based on the kind of atmosphere you want, whether that’s something relaxed and intimate, or a larger space with more flexibility. I can also share how different venues tend to work in practice, which can be helpful when planning your timeline.
Absolutely. Most of the weddings I photograph are relaxed, fairly low key, and focused on real moments rather than staged shots. My approach is designed to help you feel comfortable and present, whether you’re planning a micro wedding, town hall ceremony, or a full-day celebration.
I take a calm, unobtrusive approach, focusing on natural moments as they happen. I stay in the background for most of the day and step in only when a little guidance is helpful. This means your photographs feel honest and unforced, rather than posed or staged.
To book your wedding photography:
Complete the contact form on the Contact page
We arrange a chat about your plans
You choose your package
I send a contract and booking details
A deposit secures your date
Dates, especially summer Saturdays, book quickly, so I recommend enquiring as soon as you have confirmed your venue.
Couples often choose me because:
My approach is calm and unobtrusive
I focus on real, candid storytelling
I help camera-shy couples feel comfortable
I provide clear, transparent pricing
I offer personal communication from enquiry to delivery
I photograph weddings the way they feel, not the way they are staged.
Yes. I am happy to arrange a relaxed call to talk through your wedding plans and help you decide which coverage suits you best.
There is no obligation to book.
For peak season weddings in London, especially between May and September, most couples book 9 to 18 months in advance.
If you are planning a Saturday summer celebration, it is best to enquire as soon as your venue is secured. Weekday and winter weddings may have more flexibility.
The number of images depends on the length of coverage and the flow of the day.
On average:
Micro wedding coverage delivers approximately 100 images
Half day coverage delivers approximately up to 300 images
Full day coverage delivers approximately 500 or more images
Each gallery is carefully edited to ensure quality over quantity. I don’t cap the amount; if there are more images, you’ll get more, but never less than stated.
Yes. Every image delivered in your final gallery is professionally edited in my signature style, including colour correction and light retouching.
My wedding photography style blends documentary storytelling with a soft editorial influence.
That means:
Real, candid moments
Natural light where possible
Gentle guidance during portraits
Timeless editing in colour and black and white
If you are searching for candid wedding photography in London, this approach focuses on capturing how your day genuinely felt.
Yes. I am happy to advise on timelines to ensure your wedding photography runs smoothly.
This includes guidance on:
When to schedule portraits
How long group photos typically take
Ideal timing for golden hour portraits
This support helps create a relaxed experience while ensuring you get the images you value most.
Yes. I am experienced in working alongside wedding videographers.
Clear communication before and during the day ensures both photography and film coverage run smoothly without interfering with each other.
In the unlikely event that I am unable to attend due to serious illness or emergency, I will let you know as soon as possible. I have a network of trusted London wedding photographers who could step in, which I will arrange, and provide a full refund.
Full details are outlined in the contract.
Yes. A deposit is required to secure your date, with the remaining balance due before the wedding.
Your date is only confirmed once the contract is signed and the deposit is received.
I will share selected images on my website or social media to showcase recent work, only with permission from the couple.
If you prefer to keep your wedding private, please let me know and we can discuss privacy preferences, allowing you to opt-out, amending the contract accordingly.
Many London wedding venues have dim or atmospheric lighting.
I use professional full-frame camera equipment and fast lenses designed for low-light environments. Where necessary, I use subtle flash techniques to maintain a natural look without disrupting the atmosphere.
For venues such as Hackney Town Hall or Chelsea Old Town Hall, I am already familiar with the layout and lighting.
For new venues, I research the location beforehand and may arrive early to assess lighting and key photo spots.
Yes, coverage can be extended on the day. We will need to confirm in writing via email quickly, and payment can be made after the event.
I am based in Hackney and regularly photograph weddings in:
Islington
Shoreditch
Chelsea
Marylebone

Central London
I also travel throughout Greater London and the UK.

My half-day wedding photography includes five hours of coverage. This is usually enough to cover:
The ceremony
Couple portraits
Group photographs
Reception moments
It works well for smaller weddings where you want flexibility without committing to full-day coverage.
Half Day Coverage
Yes. It works well for smaller weddings where you want more flexibility than a short package without committing to full-day coverage.
Yes. Half-day coverage is often chosen for town hall weddings that include time afterwards for portraits and celebrations.
My micro wedding photography includes two hours of coverage. This is ideal for:
Chelsea Old Town Hall ceremonies
Islington Town Hall weddings
Small London registry office celebrations
To name a few.
Two hours is usually enough for the ceremony, portraits, and time with guests.
Micro-Wedding Coverage
Yes. The micro wedding package is available for London weddings only.
Yes. I regularly photograph weddings at:
Hackney Town Hall
Chelsea Old Town Hall
Islington Town Hall
Old Marylebone Town Hall
I am very familiar with the flow and timing of town hall ceremonies across London.
You can see examples on my Portfolio page.
My full-day wedding photography includes up to ten hours of coverage. This usually runs from morning preparations through to evening celebrations.
We shape the exact timings together in advance so the coverage fits naturally with your plans.
If you are unsure whether you need full-day or half-day coverage, you can compare both options on the Wedding Photography page.
Full Day Coverage
I work with couples across all kinds of celebrations, from intimate town‑hall weddings and micro weddings to half‑day gatherings, full‑day celebrations, elopements, and destination weddings. Whatever the scale, my focus is the same: honest, meaningful storytelling that reflects your day exactly as it felt
Yes. I am based in Hackney, but I photograph weddings across Greater London and throughout the UK.
Travel within London is included. For weddings further afield, I may require travel costs and occasionally overnight accommodation. I keep this practical and low-key (think Travelodge, not Hilton!).
If you are planning a destination wedding, feel free to get in touch to discuss details.
Most couples tell me they feel awkward in front of the camera. That is completely normal.
My approach to wedding photography is documentary-led. I focus on natural moments rather than stiff posing. I gently guide you when needed, especially during portraits, but nothing feels forced.
Within a few minutes, the camera usually fades into the background, and you relax into the day. Couples who think they are awkward often end up with the most genuine photographs.
It can be a great fit. Even for smaller or micro weddings, full‑day coverage allows the whole story to unfold naturally, from the quiet moments in the morning to the celebrations later on. Nothing feels rushed, and you end up with a complete, relaxed narrative of your day.
Yes, absolutely.
Before your wedding, we will create a simple group photo list so everything runs smoothly. While my style is candid and natural, I always make time for important family photographs and meaningful moments you want documented.
Rain never ruins wedding photography; it simply changes the atmosphere.
As a UK-based wedding photographer, I am prepared for all weather. We can:
Use beautiful indoor window light
Find covered outdoor areas
Embrace the mood with umbrellas
Some of my favourite images have been created in unexpected weather because couples relax into the moment, and the photos feel even more real.
Yes. Engagement photography in London is available as an optional add-on.
Engagement sessions are a great way to:
Get comfortable in front of the camera
Create relaxed images before the wedding
Use photos for ‘save the dates’ or your wedding website
If you are interested, mention it when you enquire. View here.
I provide planning support in the lead-up to your wedding.
A few weeks before the day, I will contact you to confirm:
Timings
Group shot lists
Key locations
Must have moments
Important guests
This ensures your wedding runs smoothly and feels relaxed.
Please complete the contact form and I’ll arrange a time to chat about your plans. When you’ve chosen a package, I’ll send a contract to sign and take a deposit to secure your date.
You will receive:
Sneak peek images within 48 hours
Your full hand edited gallery within approximately six weeks
Your gallery will be delivered through a private online gallery where you can download and share your images.
Image safety is extremely important.
On your wedding day:
I use two camera bodies
Each camera records to dual memory cards
Every image is saved twice instantly
After the wedding:
Images are backed up to a dedicated hard drive
A second backup is stored securely
A cloud backup is also created
This means there are multiple copies of your wedding photographs at all times.
